S. pneumoniae is responsible for almost 15-50% of all community acquired pneumonias. 90 sertypes of s. pneumoniae have been found. Serotypes 1 and 5 cause almost 30% of invasive pneumococcal disease. Serotypes 6,1,19,14,4,5,45,12,7,23 are the most prevalent. Indian data is insufficient.

Polysaccharide vaccine- dose has to given every three years.
Chicken pox vaccine- 2 doses can be started after 1 st birthday and can be given 6 months apart.
Hepatitis A vaccine- to prevent hepatitis caused by infected food and infected water.
The vaccine schedule is of 2 doses & can be started after1 st birthday and can be given 6 months apart.
